Happy 25th Birthday Rob!!

Wonder what the next 25 will bring?

Hallo Angelz.  Rob turns the big 2-5 today and I thought long and hard (TWSS) about what I wanted this birthday post to be about.  Hmm what could I do, I considered radioactive spiders and kryptonite oh erm wait …I considered the classic pictorial spread of faves, then I considered video clips of his roles, then I considered some goofy manips heehee but these have all been done again and again.

Then I was reading this interview with Rob from the New Zealand Herald and the last lines in it intrigued me:

No doubt life will continue to change for Pattinson, which is something he is keen on. He’s more than ready to prove he can do more than play a white-faced, poetry-reading vampire.

“I’m not complaining, but I will say, that if in 25 years’ time people are still screaming, ‘Edward!’ when they see me, I think I might murder someone.”

In the SmutLight: Across the Universes & Firefly in Summer

Well, hello there, lovelies! Happy Sinday!

What a week it’s been, huh? We’ve had a veritable cornucopia of HHH in these last weeks, topped off by his whirlwind world-tour for WFE promotion. After seeing Rob strut in Berlin, sizzle in Paris, shine in London, seduce in Barcelona and simmer in Sydney…not to mention the red carpet interviews, the TV shows, the radio shows…Oy! My head is spinning. It’s like I’ve died and gone to RobHeaven! The only thing I can think is…DAMN it’s been amazing and DAMN a drought has got to be on its way! And the man is deserving of some peace and quiet, wouldn’t you say? ;)

In the meantime, we can picture Rob as Edward in the amazing fics I’m sharing with you today. Small consolation, I know…but we’ll just have to manage…. *sigh*  :D

Across both universes, Bella and Edward find each other. *sigh*


Up first in the Completed Spotlight is Across the Universes by FantasyMother. This story is 19 chapters including a future-take and will capture your attention from the start.  I love a little bit of mystery thrown into my stories, and this one does not disappoint. The fic opens with a human Edward shopping with human Alice in a Port Angeles bookstore. Alice discovers and seemingly old and tattered leather-bound journal with mysteriously pristine, un-aged, blank pages. Edward purchases it to use for his musings but quickly discovers strange things happening not only to him, but also to the journal. Similarly, in a parallel universe, vampire Edward obtains the same journal and suffers mysterious side effects as well. When the two Edwards discover they can communicate with one another via the journal, the story explodes into action. Will their parallel lives collide?

I love the quick pace of this story, the fight both sets of Edwards and Isabellas have to survive in order to find their own happily ever afters. And I have to say, I really liked the unique take on the future family life for one of these couples…in fact, if you like where this story leaves off as much as I did, there’s a sequel that began in January that’s currently still a WIP: Collapse the Universes.

In the SmutLight: Vampward!

Hi everyone!!!  It’s me again.  JAG and Dee have graciously let me do another guest post. *happy dancing*  I am especially excited about this one, because after meeting so many amazing women in NYC, I love that I can share and connect with you all through fan fiction and this blog.  It really does feel like a blessing. **sniff, wiping away a tear** Alright, enough with the schmaltz… ;)

About two weeks ago, I finally got my hands on Ms. Meyer’s The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, and it’s really cool to go back and review what made me fall in love with these characters in the first place.  I felt nostalgic for the time when I was first reading the books…I was so innocent then.  *giggle*  But like most adult women reading the original series, I felt like something was lacking.  “Fade to Black” sucks.  THAT’S what drew me to fan fiction: I needed someone to fill in the blanks…my mind wanders to the visual of Robward gripping the headboard, thrusting… *panting*

Anyway, where was I??  Oh right, I LOVE Alternate Universe stories, even ones that don’t follow canon.  It’s what I started with in this crazy world of fan fiction.  *stands up*  My name is katiebird, and I am a Vampward H00r.

If Love Could Light a Candle by Pastiche Pen is such a special story.  It was the first AU story I read that deviated from canon.  In this completed fic, Edward uses his powers as a telepath to practice as a psychologist – a favor to Carlisle.  He really just wants to make amends, and is intrigued by a new patient, Bella, because he can’t read her mind.  The story is refreshing because it is told in third person, which I LOVE!

Water for Elephants…Rob IS Jacob, I am died

WARNING: This post and the comments may contain SPOILERS after the cut.

Last Thursday I had the good fortune of seeing Water for Elephants at the Canadian Premier (with some lovely h00rs) and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised.  I’ll be honest with you, I tempered my expectations for the film and found that I was thoroughly entertained in the end.

I understand that this film is not out in many countries until May so I’m going to put my thoughts under the cut…and yes some of what I say may be considered spoilerish if you haven’t read the book or the script. So be forewarned.

TwiSmut Sinday has a Case of the Giggles

Happy Sinday, one and all!!  <—- See what I did there in honor of WFE? ;)

I think after the amazeballs and whirlwind week of watching the pretty do Water for Elephants promotional appearances, the film premiere, and seeing the movie this weekend (for those who are blessed to live where that happened!), we could all use a couple light stories. This week, it’s all about the lulz. I’ve got two WIPs and a Completed Fic that just make me giggle when reading…I read these stories with a HUGE smile on my face. If you’re in the mood to sit back, relax and enjoy – these fics are for you!

Is this...magic? ;)

The first WIP I want to bring to you is the genius Once More, With Feeling by WhatsMyNomDePlume. This story is hilarious to me on so many levels, but I think I fell in love with it because it’s a combination of so many of my favorite things. It’s kinda Twilight-meets-The X-Files-meets-Men In Black. And the third person narration is brill. The fic opens with Edward and Bella both working as agents for a clandestine agency in the US whose purpose is to keep humans in the dark about any and all mythical, magical, unexplained and extra-terrestrial beings. It’s clear they are exes not on the best of terms. Edward is snarky and indignant; Bella is bitter and resentful. But their boss calls them and places them on assignment in the field. Together. And they both have everything riding on their success. So off they go…and the adventure begins.

This story mixes mystery and suspense with myth and humor. Add a healthy dose of love/hate/UST/romance and you’ve got a winner on your hands. Ten chapters are completed so far, but if you’re reading WhatsMyNom’s other amazing WIP, The Best I Ever Had (UNF! So good!), you know she’ll be finishing that fic before finishing this one, so for those of you who can’t do WIPs, keep your eyes peeled. This story is incredibly unique and keeps you guessing. Definitely check it out!

Summary: Exes and co-workers Edward & Bella are sent to investigate the strange happenings in Forks, but they might drive each other crazy figuring out what’s going on in the town. And between them. Humor/Romance.

Mmmm Nothing but BAD BOYS this Sinday!

Holy Bad Boy Edwards, Angelz!! Or, shall I say h00rs? ‘Cuz there’s a whole lot of you who have a whole lot of favorite Bad Boys out there!! They range from high school jerks to teen psycho killers…hmmm…I guess there really is something out there for everyone?? Thank you soooo much for playing along with me and sharing all of your favorites. I always love hearing from you! <3

So…since there are nearly 40 fics that were tweeted or messaged to me…please forgive me for not commenting on them all. Of course, some of them are new to me, some of them have been on my list forever but I’ve not read them, and some of them are also my personal faves! 10 Reasons I Can’t Wait to See Water for Elephants!

It’s time, it’s time (in my best Alice voice)

The release of Water for Elephants is just over a week away and I’m already starting to see reviews of the film in my twitter time-line.  I’ve honestly avoided reading the reviews in an effort to go in without any pre-conceived ideas about the film. I  have however, read the book and the script and I have some definite ideas about what I’m looking forward to ;)

TAI! – Rob fell hard for TAI and she was one of the main reasons he chose to become Jacob

Rob singing - it’s in the book and in the script and if it gets cut from the film…the animal activists will have nothing on picketing upset JAG ;)

Hope they win best KISS at the MTV awards heehee

How to Get & Read FanFiction on Your Kindle!

So I thought this would be a great follow up posts to Dees Sinday recs yesterday.

If you follow me on twitter, you know I always ramble on about what I’m reading and how much I LOVE my kindle. Well I do love my kindle and so does ROB! Yep, he has a kindle too but his is LARGE ;)

One of the things I always get asked is ‘how do I get fanfiction on my kindle’?  Well there’s more than one way to get it on your kindle but today I’m going to tell you how I do it.

Before I lay out the instructions on how to get fanfic on your kindle I just want to say I understand many fic writers don’t like their stories published and posted all over the internet for reading and downloading, please use these instructions to add fics to your kindle for personal use.
