Happy Sinday, lovely Angels! I can’t think of a week where I’ve been more happy to see it roll around. My fic and Rob mojo have been running dangerously low lately with no time to refill. I’ve been enjoying what I do have time to read, but am crazy behind on updates and nothing new was pwning me. I decided to think about what originally drew me to fic in a quest to find my happy place. If there is one genre that I find myself always going back to, it would have to be the angst. I really can’t get enough of the drama and the heartfail- I love a good story that just pulls you in and won’t let go. I actually look for stories that can evoke enough emotion to make me cry. Add to that the fact that I’m not sure when I’ll get a chance to see Remember Me, plus reading entries for the Black Balloon Contest (more on that in a bit) and I decided to just turn the whole damn week into one big emo-fest.

I have loved this story since the first chapter and I’ve stayed with it until it ended last month. I was actually avoiding reading the last chapter because I didn’t want it to end. The author’s words make the whole thing feel like poetry and it’s just lush and beautiful. Her Edward is a talented painter with a bit of a tortured soul and Bella sees beauty through her own words. There is just something so lovely and poignant about their journey together, even the hard parts, and I adored it. If you can take a good romantic dose of angst, make sure you don’t miss this one and you can look forward to the Epi soon.
I’m putting the Spotlight for this week’s WIP on a fantastic story called Awake in the Infinite Cold by quothme. No banner for this one, but there is a gorgeous video by the author that you MUST watch- it alone made me cry.

Remember how last week I said that no other story has affected me like Gondolier’s HL5? Yeah, well, I just found one. In a funny coincidence, Gondolier herself recently rec’d this one, along with a lot of other authors and readers. I don’t know how I’ve missed it for this long and I can’t even describe how hard this fic has pwned me. It’s a cross between Twilight and Flowers for Algernon with a mix of others and it’s unbelievably well done. Flowers has haunted me since I read it a million years ago and I can tell that this story is going to do the same. It’s so intelligent and heartbreaking and beautiful that I’m still struggling to explain what I think about it, but I know I will be printing it out to read again and I’ll be watching *coughStalkingcough* for an update like the shameless fangirl I am. This is truly an angst dream come true, so START READING if you haven’t already.

I lurk a lot here and I have read and loved a lot of your recommendations. I just have to say that I absolutely ADORE The Red Line and I think it is a must read. It is heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. I read it while she was writing it and she updated almost every day. There at the end there were a few bumps, but the story is really phenomenal.
She has another story that is quite good called Hurt. It is AU and it is also quite angsty and delicious.
This was the second FF I ever read (Wide Awake the first – and after reading the best….) but I really did like The Red Line.

I agree, The Red Line is quite something. I couldn’t stop reading it once I started, but there should be a warning, it’s really not for everyone. It’s very graphic. I can’t tell how much I personally wanted to do extremely ugly and nasty things to one Victoria…and James…even more then I wanted Edward to rip out his throat in Twilight and rip Victoria to bits in Eclispe…
this is one of my all time faves, the first one i read to and it got me hooked, would love a sequel to find out how they’re doing too.

I have both “Bare” and “Awake in the Infinite Cold” already on my ‘To Read’ list and I’m glad to hear more about them. I will definitely be checking them out in the next few weeks.
Glad to see “How to Save a Life” rec’d. I only started reading it a few weeks ago after having had it on my list for forever, and am now caught up. Can’t believe I didn’t start it sooner. It owned me HARD right away. It is truly well-written, intriguing, heartbreaking, and I think what I love most about it is that it has real depth and is well-paced. I like the angsty stories that don’t jump into the lovefest too soon, and How to Save a Life feels very realistic in regard to the progression of the relationship. Even in moments where it felt frustrating, it was well-written and interesting enough to keep me reading and anxiously awaiting each “breakthrough”. Edward is tough for Bella to crack, but it makes it so much more compelling to me. HIGHLY recommend this one if you like the angst.
How to Save a Life is one of my absolute favorite stories. I can’t wait for Edward to get his shit together. And that last chapter was heartbreak for Bella!!

I’m pretty anal(har har) about my writing. I’m not really a writer per-se, but I’ve kept journals since I was 10. It’s hard to devote the time I need to make the story what I want. Between kids, running a farm and my FF/Robsession, I only manage little slots of time for writing before RL drags me away. I want to get on twitter so bad, but have decided if I did I would never finish my story. So, if you don’t see me on here sometimes in the next few weeks it’s because I’m finally getting my shit together and finding the balls to post it. I REALLY love this video. I just love her singing as well as Patty Griffin is a really good singer/songwriter. I think I even “follow” her on twitter. LOL She’s so good. The video is so lovely. I wish I could put something as simple, but as powerful a video together such as that one. Beautiful. Sigh. A friend once told me: “Music is only as fine as the silence it is compared to”. Meaning if you leave a little air and let it breathe, it’s like you can hear a pin drop and the beauty of the notes you DO SING AND PLAY are more powerful by having given over to some silence to make the music more powerful. I never forgot that. It takes maturity to do that however. Most of us musicians when we were younger always wanted to PROVE our talent by oversinging, but as you mature, you realize more can be said with less. It’s very poignant that way. Live and learn.

OK, I saw “Remember Me” last night with my daughter and both of us ♥LOVED♥ it! About 5 minutes into the film she turned to me and exclaimed..”God, he’s so sexy in this! I can’t stand it!” (So tell me ‘dotter’ how you really feel!!??) Anyhow, the film is so intimate, and shot so intimately that at times I felt that I was standing on the set, in the same room, I could smell the atmosphere and almost reach out and touch them. I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way before. The acting was honest, you believed everyone. Rob was fantastic, Chris Cooper (he’s always fantastic..), Emilie..the whole cast. Amazing!
We raved about it so much when we got home that I’m heading back with DH on Tuesday to see it again because he’s dieing to see it now. We had recently watched Chris Cooper in “Lone Star” on DVD and you can’t enough of that guy! But DH actually wants to see Rob in this just as much, I thought it was just Chris, but nope, he insists that he sincerely would love to see Rob play something other then Edward, the fact that he has seen all of Rob’s other films seems to have escaped him. (The first thing to go is the brain right?)

Lemons, some fluff, and lost of angst ensue… definitely a good read.
So, I saw Remember Me last night. My two RL friends ended up backing out at the last minute, so I went by myself. I was totally fine with it. I could perv in peace.
SPOILER FREE: Anyway, of course, I loved it! The acting was awesome, the writing, the directing, the sets, everything, perfect. Rob was so sweet and sexy and intense. And , the best hair evah LOL. Anyway, I’m emo today because of something that happened in my RL. I don’t really want to get into it, but I’m pretty down in the dumps. Hopefully, things will be better tomorrow. Love you ladies.
