Oh to see him play in a smokey bar, surrounded by fans who truly love his music.
So I was really surprised the other day when I tweeted that I was attempting to enhance the live version of Rob singing the long version of Let Me Sign. The response I got was crazy, most people hadn’t heard the long version, some didn’t know it even existed.
Well, there is a long version of Let Me Sign. The track in Twilight only contains the first verse. The only recording that I know of in existence was taken from I believe The Whisky-a-go-go on October 1, 2008. The recording is not great, it’s a bar and there is chatter. What is ubercool is that part way into the recording, the crowd goes silent, absolutely mesmorized by Rob’s performance.
My attempt to clean up the audio was a bit of a fail. I was able to equalize the sound, remove the hiss and that’s about it. Removing the frequency of the chatter, messed with the tone of Rob’s singing and I was having none of that LOL.

What’s this song about? Well, I think this song is about a man so in love with a woman that he can’t fight it and he’s willing to sign away his soul to the devil to have her.

Not just words, but everything that cannot be expressed in words comes out in his voice.
IMO, that is what makes him so mesmerizing when he performs.

Oh I’m SO PSYCHED about the Chateau Marmont Kristen leaving the next morning wearing the same outfit as the night before and Rob being spotted chowing down at the patio there eating. SO COOL. Even if they are just friends with benefits, or just enjoying the occasional fuck, I think it’s so cool. Rob tried out for this part to meet Kristen. End of story. The chemistry was there. Fluffy, COURT AND SPARK..>LOVE THAT ALBUM. Joni Mitchell is my biggest hero songwriting and vocal wise. Do you have “BLUE” too? SAD album, but great. Many great musicians have said that’s their favorite album of anybody.
Yeah, Joni went away for a YEAR and lived in the woods in a cabin without phones or electric. But she missed LA. She went back and made that album next. She got a little Rock n Roll in her too on that album. LOVE that album.
Blue! What a fucking FANTASTIC album, full of angst and broken love. I bought it when I first moved to London when I was 19, living in crappy flats and getting laid by mega-inappropriate men! Ahh, those were the days. The words of every song are burned into my brain – even when I eventually lose what few brain cells remain, I will still be able to sing along to the whole album (though it won’t just be the cat that objects then!) But Joni has a strange power over me – I used to have a pretty good voice, but age, booze, fags and over-indulgence of every kind have taken their toll – however, I can still hit every note when I sing along with Joni … weird! Maybe she’s written herself into my DNA or something!

Bloody hell Debbo, your musical tastes are all over the place – really varied and eclectic .. a positive moveable feast of musical enjoyment. I’m afraid you’re way above me musically (probably because your ARE a musician!) I’m a bit boring and tend to play pretty safe, although I do have a few random choices in my collection. More so amongst my vinyls, but they are all boxed up and stored away, which is a bit shit but I just don’t have any space for them – about 10 years ago I moved from my lovely 3-bed house to a 2-bed flat for financial reasons and I can’t even remember all the albums I had (there’s 700 of the fuckers!) So it’s just my CDs now (only about 300 of those) and I tend to buy a lot of new music now … hence Kings of Leon, Beyonce and Elbow! And I download a lot of dance music.
Recently got into Radiohead, who I didn’t really get before – but that’s thanks to hearing 15 Step on the Twilight soundtrack! One of the problems is that I used to be heavily influenced by friends and meeting new people, but my social life is a bit piss-poor at the moment, and most of my friends are a bit boring in their musical tastes. The friends who used to influence me the most now live too far way to have any impact on me – so you will have to be my muse now!

One of my FAVORITE ways to find new music is to wander MYSPACE looking at link to link. Find an artist you like, check out their “friends” and see which ones are BANDS, then the same for the next one and the next one.
I got rid of cable because I’m up all night and all I see are infomercials. I get 28 channels with new DIgital tv any way. Spend most of my time online, but it means I don’t get to see VH1 or MTV or anything to keep up with any thing new. So that’s why I explore MYSPACE MUSIC. Still hard to keep up though cause I don’t like radio either.
I love Radiohead. I love “Queens of the stone age” and “Pinback”. These have been out a LONG TIME though. I love rock n roll, but it’s so hard to find really heavy rock and roll anymore, it’s mostly pop. I love Green Day. They are old though, but still love them. Love Foo Fighters and Incubus. Also very old. but love them…..love all the old grunge shit too. Nothing beats vintage beatles though post live stuff. Like all the old psychedelic musicians too from the 60′s and 70′s. SO CREATIVE. Everything seems so copied now. But it was back then too, people just forget. I like a new singer named DIANE BIRCH. Look her up on MYSPACE. She sounds like the 70′s. Very cool. Love PATRICK WOLF and IMOGEN HEAP and RUFUS WAINWRIGHT and ARI HEST too a lot now. There’s a few fairly new ones there near the end for you to check out. TASTE THEM on myspace.
I adore vintage heavy jazz too. Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Louis armstrong (20′s stuff) and some fun dorky stuff like Fats Waller too. Billie Holiday is my favorite OLD blues/jazz singer back THEN.

I think we’re all waiting for the new interviews and junkets to get started for New Moon, although I suspect there won’t be as many as they were for Twilight because of filming Eclipse. I guess that will all start in September/October, leading up to the 20 November release date. Plus I guess Rob will have to go straight onto Unbound Captives or Bel Ami – which hopefully means he won’t get forced into all the Mall crap he had to do for Twilight, which must have been torture, especially for his ears!
One of my favorite pics from comic con is the picture of him grimacing as he walks into the night movie showings at the theatre for the twi babies. He’s so funny he makes me happy. I know you all have seen it, so I won’t post it.

I have a REALLY STUPID QUESTION if somebody can help me.
I use a MAC and when I try to save GIFS it only saves them as ONE PICTURE. I don’t know what PLAYS them in MAC either. I can SEE THEM MOVE when you post them online, or they are on people’s pages, but I want to keep some for myself. Especially the TONGUE one from HOW TO BE. LOL Can somebody tell me what I’m doing wrong saving them? I AM saving them as .gif files. HELP
Yeh, it’s the same on a PC – I’ve never worked that out, cos even though you save them as a GIF they remain static. I’d like to know too, if anyone can give us a heads-up, cost some of them are bril.
I use a Mac, try opening them with a browser (Safari, Firefox) instead of Preview or iPhoto.
