So I was really surprised the other day when I tweeted that I was attempting to enhance the live version of Rob singing the long version of Let Me Sign. The response I got was crazy, most people hadn’t heard the long version, some didn’t know it even existed.
Well, there is a long version of Let Me Sign. The track in Twilight only contains the first verse. The only recording that I know of in existence was taken from I believe The Whisky-a-go-go on October 1, 2008. The recording is not great, it’s a bar and there is chatter. What is ubercool is that part way into the recording, the crowd goes silent, absolutely mesmorized by Rob’s performance.
My attempt to clean up the audio was a bit of a fail. I was able to equalize the sound, remove the hiss and that’s about it. Removing the frequency of the chatter, messed with the tone of Rob’s singing and I was having none of that LOL.

What’s this song about? Well, I think this song is about a man so in love with a woman that he can’t fight it and he’s willing to sign away his soul to the devil to have her.

Wow. I had no idea there was a longer version of this song out there. Hearing Rob sing gives me chills, everytime.
His voice is so raw, so soul-bearing, so beautiful. I srsly hope that someday, he’ll be able to perform in public for the people that appreciate his music and I srsly hope that maybe I’ll be lucky enough to hear it.

Thank you so much for posting this! I knew there was a longer version, but I never knew that Rob had been recorded performing it. I get so angry that they only did the first verse for the soundtrack, because that fucking recording gives me goosebumps. I understand only having that verse in the film, but why didn’t they record the whole thing? I honestly think that was the final straw for me loosing my shit over him. When I heard his voice so clear and so damn powerful… Sweet Jeebus.

I had never heard of twilight or Rob really until the DVD came out and my cable company kept advertising that you could order it OnDemand.
I remember seeing the clips and thinking “that guy is hot…maybe I’ll order it when I’m bored some afternoon”
but I didn’t for awhile because I thought it might be a cheesy teen vamp flick…and then one day soon after, I finally did.
I remember thinking while watching “hey, that’s the dude from the Oscars who managed to look incredibly hot while looking completely uncomfortable”
and so I was enjoying the movie and then I got to the ‘let me sign’ part and my ears perked up and I swear I stopped breathing.
As soon as the movie was over I knew I had to google it and find out who sang that song ’cause I was so blown away by it.
Imagine my surprise….I think I stared at the comp and shook my head while muttering something like “No way….No fucking way…..can’t be….shit”
I knew it was all over for me… and I so don’t crush on celebs…ever.

I truly know how you feel about not normally being so crazy about a movie star. I mean there are movie stars that I think are hot, but Robert Pattinson is H-O-T-T!!!!! I never really watched the movie either because I am not really into vampire movies or books. My mother in law told me that the book saga and the movie were good so I watched it with her one night and man did I just fall in love with him. I don’t know why I am so obsessed but I would absolutely love to meet him and I alway try and search if he is going to be anywhere I come up empty handed. It would be so amazing to meet him and I fell in love with the song as well. At first I didn’t know who sang it either and I liked it. That is what got me to download both CD’s from both movies that are out because I was wanting to find that song. I wish the long version was on the CD. Do you know where I could find the long version? Anyways you are not the only one either that is obsessed with him and not normally like this with a movie star.

I´ve heard it before, and I so wished there could be found a version that would have better sound..
His friends write great music as Robert does too, and the mood he puts into his music; I won´t say that what he does is good singing, because he has the voice to sing even better; but since Jeff Buckley, I haven´t heard another musitian that would be able to put me into the feeling of the song, not just listen at it and think how cute the lyric or the melody is, but to actually have the idea what emotions he is channeling while playing it and what the song is about in terms of feelings.
It is amazing, and I got chilles the firt time I heard his music, because the first thing that came to my mind was Jeff Buckley and a guttural emotion.
I wish he would do an album, anything so we could hear more of his music.

Thanks JAG, just love this song (even more than Never Think). I have always been really annoyed that it didn’t make it onto the Soundtrack album – Paramore got 2 songs, neither of which actually played over the movie, and Let Me Sign was actually one of the most pivotal tracks, more so than Never Think which you couldn’t really hear over the restaurant scene. I would pay good money to have a decent version of LMS on my MP3, even the short one.
